Quote of the Month: July/2014

The computer scientist chosen for July's quote is Brian Kernighan, who was involved in the creation of some of the most used pieces of software until today: the Unix operating system and the C programming language.

The design of this quote has a bold font pairing: we mixed a script typeface, an outlined serif, and a monospaced font that has a humanist sans design. Check it out:

Controlling Complexity is the Essence of Computer Programming

Lettering and Typography

When I was about 10 years old I got two things: my first computer, a MSX, and a calligraphy course by mail.

The computer worked out very well and eventually turned into a software development career, while the calligraphy course didn't go very far.

Twenty five years later, it's time for me to take a second try at creating beautiful letters. This time, I have modern technology on my side. Even though I love hand writing, I believe Inkscape offers excellent tools to create results with the precision that only a computer can offer. Plus unlimited undos!

Please join me on this journey of Lettering and Typography.
